The men’s T20 World Cup has been organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2007. This will be the first instance when the United States of America (USA) will co-host the prestigious ICC T20 World Cup 2024. India won the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa by beating Pakistan. 2024 ICC T20 World Cup
The 2024 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup will be the 9th edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup. It will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). The tournament will be played from June 1 to June 29, 2024. England are the defending champions who beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the last edition of this tournament.
West Indies and the US to co-host the tournament will get a direct entry. The top eight teams from last year’s event were selected directly. The next two teams are based on the ICC’s ranking for the Twenty20 Cricket. The final eight teams were chosen through regional qualifying matches.
T20 World Cup 2024: Format
The tournament will feature 20 qualifying teams in the league stages. These 20 teams are divided into four groups. Each group consists of five teams. The top two teams advance to the Super 8 phase.
In the Super 8 phase, there will be a total of eight teams. These eight teams will be divided into two groups (Groups 1 & 2) consisting of four teams. The Top two teams from Group 1 and Group 2 will advance to the knockout stage, which will include two semi-finals and a final.
