2024 T20 World Cup – India’s probable XI in Super 8 is a centre of attraction. Although India remains unbeaten in the group stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup, the performance of Indian batters is a serious concern in the Super 8s campaign.

Kohli drops to number 3

Rohit and Jaiswal are the two openers that India includes in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad. Rohit & Co. promoted Kohli to open the innings for India for group stages. Virat Kohli failed as an opener who only faced 9 balls so far. It’s time for India to rethink this strategy in the Super 8s phase. On the contrary, Yashasvi Jaiswal has a better record as an opener in T20 Internationals than Kohli.

Kuldeep replaces Siraj in the Super 8s phase

India played all three matches at NCI Cricket Stadium, New York. The conditions favoured pace bowling for which India played with a more pace-friendly attack. Kuldeep and Chahal didn’t get a game in the league stages of the 2024 T20 WC. The fourth match of India in Lauderhill, Florida against Canada washed out due to a wet outfield.

India will play their Super 8s matches in the West Indies. Some of the Caribbean pitches will be spin-friendly wickets. Kuldeep Yadav will be the trump card for India in these pitches. It won’t be surprising if India plays with three spinners like Jadeja, Axar, and Kuldeep. This will leave two spots for pacers in the playing XI. Bumrah is an obvious choice, the other one may be Arshdeep or Siraj along with Hardik.

India should alternate the team combination keeping the conditions in mind. Jaiswal comes in, Kohli drops to number 3, Kuldeep in for one of the pacers, Drop Dube and brings Jaiswal or play with three pacers along with Kuldeep. Rohit & Co. have lots to think ahead of their match against Afghanistan in the Super 8s phase.
