Pakistan lost the home series against Bangladesh a few months back by 0-2. Before that, Pakistan lost to Australia in Australia by 0-3. All these losses came under the new skipper of the Pakistan test team, Shan Masood.
Pakistan will play three test matches against England at home and two matches against South Africa in South Africa during the World Test Championship (2023-25). Pakistan dropped to eighth position in the WTC (2023-25) Points Table.
Khurram Shahzad missed out due to fully recovering from the injury that occurred in the test series against Bangladesh. Pakistan will surely miss the services of Khurram Shahzad who took a 6-wicket haul in the 2nd test vs Bangladesh.
Kamran Ghulam and Md Ali have been dropped from the squad. Abrar Ahmed will now have a spinning partner Noman Ali in this series. Pakistan hasn’t won any of the last ten test matches played at home.
Babar and Shaheen were kept in the test squad. They had a below-par series against Bangladesh earlier this month. Pakistan team want them to perform at their potential.
Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan are the two wicket-keeper batsmen in the squad. Now, it would be interesting to see if they get a game at the same time. Rizwan performed brilliantly with the bat against Bangladesh but all went in vain as Pakistan lost both of the test matches.
Pakistan included four all-rounders in the test side. Shakeel and Salman are the batting all-rounders. Whereas, Aamer Jamal and Noman Ali are the bowling all-rounders. It will help Pakistan to build a strong playing XI according to the conditions offered.
Mir Hamza will accompany Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah in the pace bowling department. Pakistan Test Captain, Shan Masood will look for these three pacers to take early wickets against England.
