West Indies escaped a major upset against PNG
While chasing the target of 137 runs off 20 overs, West Indies lost their opener, Johnson Charles on a golden duck. Nicholas Pooran was out LBW but the umpire declined the appeal of PNG’s bowler. PNG captain, Assad Vala made a blunder by not taking the DRS. The middle order of WI’s batting lineup struggled to score runs and WI lost wickets at regular intervals.
Dre Russ played the second fiddle role in the partnership with Chase. Chase scored 42 off 27 balls and guided WI to victory.

Papua New Guinea’s overall bowling performance was impressive. Lack of experience at the International level cost them the match in the end. Skipper Assad Vala’s all-round performance was brilliant to watch. Alei Nao bowled a wicket-maiden over in his first over.
